Ultrasound

Chiropractic Ultrasound During Pregnancy
When you're pregnant, your obstetrician will perform an ultrasound to assess the health of your growing fetus. If you're suffering from back and shoulder problems, you might be interested in getting a chiropractic ultrasound. These two ultrasounds are different but can be used safely even if you are pregnant. Milwaukee chiropractor Dr. George Lor uses ultrasound to help with soft tissue pain.

How Chiropractic Ultrasound Works
Ultrasound works by delivering sound waves deep into the tissue. These sound waves are at frequencies we cannot hear. They produce vibrations and heat to help loosen muscles, increase blood flow and relieve pain.

Conditions Ultrasound Can Treat
Ultrasound is useful for the following:
  • Muscle pain
  • Sprains
  • Strains
  • Spasms
  • Arthritis
  • Tendonitis
  • Bursitis
Precautions
For the most part, chiropractic ultrasounds are safe during pregnancy. However, extreme heat for long periods of time can harm the fetus. Your chiropractor should direct the ultrasound away from the womb. Be sure not to use it on the front of your body, especially over the uterus. If you have back, shoulder or knee pain, you should be safe using ultrasound on those body parts. As a safety precaution, ask your obstetrician first before using chiropractic ultrasound. There may be other chiropractic options available to you to relieve pain.
